Matsumae Study Tour
I will describe this more fully in the coming weeks when I have time to write. For now, photos from our recent Matsumae International Foundation (MIF) study tour organised by Mr Nakajima-san are in the MIF Flickr set.
It was a wonderful opportunity to meet the research fellows from a range of countries and to share our Japanese travel and cultural discovery experiences together with like-minded individuals.
Our busy schedule itinerary included:
Miyajima Island Shrine, Aquarium and Daishoin Temple
Hiroshima Peace Park and Museum
Shinkansen to Himeji and Himeji Castle
Kobe Earthquake Memorial/Museum and Kobe Harbourside
Nara Yakushiji Temple
Todaiji Temple and Daibutsu
Horyuji Temple, Pagoda and Museum
Gyozo Furuse Porcelain Pottery
Zuiho sub-temple of Daitokuji monastery
Kyoto Kinkakuji/Rokuon-ji (Golden Pavilion)
Nijo Castle (with Nightingale floor)
Heian Shrine and Iris/Lotus Garden
Kiyomizu Temple in the Kyoto hills
This week, Mum and Dad have arrived for sightseeing in Tokyo, which has included Odaiba, Sumida River cruise, Tokyu Hands, Ginza Itoya, Mitsukoshi and Imperial Palace, Kabuki-za, Shimo-Kitazawa and Shibuya, Asakusa, Ropponghi Hills and Mori Art Centre. Today we leave for Kyoto and Arashiyama.
